Goodfellas Review
The Description
Henry Hill is a small town gangster who commits a robbery with Tommy De Vito and Jimmy Conway, two gangster who are looking to move up to a high rank in the Italian Mafia. The small time mafia men begin to kill off the other members of the robbery so there are no loose ends. Because of their loyalty and trustworthiness they be promoted fast through the mobs hierarchy. The movie does a good job of depicting Henry Hills life from a child all the way to the height and downfall of his career.
The Plot
The movie starts out with a young boy in an Italian neighborhood that had an average up bringing but always wanted to be a gangster. He started running errands like phone calls and groceries, to the mobsters at the butcher shop. When he got older he moved up in rank and started to pull bigger jobs, he pulled aot of jobs specifically with Tommy Devito and Jimmy Conway. They would rip off trucks, boats at the docks, armored cars, anything they could sell, and they made a fortune.
The Bottom Line
A great Italian Mafia movie, not quite as good as the godfather but its right up there with out a doubt. The cast, such as Joe Pesci and Rober De Niro play terrific roles as American gangster. For being one of the best Mafia movies, Goodfellas ranks at a 10/10 for exceptional performances throughout.
